Dear friends,
THIS SUNDAY Charlotte Adams will be leading us in worship. Charlotte Adams is a candidate for ministry within the Presbytery of Montreal. Charlotte was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has lived in Pointe-Claire, QC since 2017. Charlotte did her undergrad at St. Francis Xavier University in Honours Religious Studies and is currently doing her BTh/MDiv at Presbyterian College. Charlotte is currently a member at St. Columba by the Lake Presbyterian Church in Pointe-Claire. Many of you will remember Charlotte from when she preached at St. Andrew’s in January.
JOHN 9 NARRATES JESUS HEALING A MAN, born blind, with mud creating conflict with the pharisees because Jesus healed on the Sabbath, and in the Pharisee’s view forgave the man’s sins. Jesus’ identity as “light of the world,” “Son of Man,” “prophet,” and “Messiah” are all affirmed in this narrative, yet the Pharisees do not recognize it. How do we recognize spiritual blindness in our faith journeys? In John 9: 39 Jesus states that he seeks to give sight to those who cannot see, and blind those who can see. How is this upside-down theology present in other aspects of Jesus’ ministry/teaching? Can we listen for God’s voice and showcase this upside-down theology in our world?
