January 28th 2024 – “God is Faithful in All His Works”

2024-01-28 “God is faithful in all His works” 11:00 AM

Dear Friends,

THIS SUNDAY the Rev. Linda Faith Chalk will be leading us in worship.

PLEASE JOIN US for the eagerly awaited St. Andrew’s 99th Anniversary Potluck Luncheon immediately following the service this Sunday!  A heartfelt thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who have generously offered their time to prepare for the event, cook, bake, and also assist with cleanup during and after the Anniversary meal.  What a blessing it is to come together and experience the harmony and unity of Psalm 133: 1, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (NIV translation)

OUR GOSPEL LESSON this week is taken from Mark 1: 21-28, “Jesus Heals a Man with an Unclean Spirit.”  In this passage Jesus is teaching in a synagogue in Capernaum, where he amazes the people with his authoritative teaching.  During the teaching, Jesus casts out an unclean spirit from a man, showcasing his power and authority over evil forces.  The incident underscores Jesus’ power and the impact of his presence on those present.

January 29th 2023 – “A Shockingly Different Kind of Power”

2023-01-29 "A Shockingly Different Kind of Power" 11 AM

Dear friends,

Today we are celebrating St. Andrew’s Church 98th anniversary!  Please plan to stay after the worship service and join us downstairs in the church hall for a special potluck lunch, and please also consider bringing either a main course or dessert treat to be shared with everyone. We look forward to this time of fellowship and hope to see you there.

Last week the Rev. Linda Faith Chalk preached about Jesus’ public ministry beginning in the region of Galilee of the Gentiles (Matthew 4: 15), and how the movement of the Gospel moved from the Jewish community to the Gentile world.  Jesus called his disciples and immediately they dropped their nets and followed him, and their lives were forever changed.  God is continuing His work of redemption today and calling a people to Himself, to everyone who repents and believes. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Romans 1: 16
