September 17th 2023 – “Can we go home?”

2023-09-17 "Can we go home?" 11 AM

Dear friends,

This Sunday the Rev. Dr. Roland De Vries will be leading us in worship.

Our scripture lesson this week is from the Gospel according to John 14: 1-14. Here, Jesus engages in a conversation with his disciples about God’s care for them. As they talk together, the idea of home becomes prominent—where is home, and how to get there. Thomas is at the centre of this narrative, asking questions, as Thomas often does!  This time he objects to Jesus’ insistence that they know the way to the Father, by pointing out that they don’t actually know. It is also a mysterious passage because in it Jesus talks about how he and the Father are one—united with each other in some deeply meaningful way. When you see Jesus, you have also been introduced to the Father!
