May 14th 2023 – “Bringing it all together”

2023-05-14 "Bringing it all together" 11 AM

Dear friends,

This Sunday the Rev. Linda Faith Chalk will be leading us in worship.

Our Scripture reading is taken from John 14: 14-21.  Before Christ’s ascension into heaven, He promises His disciples that He would send a “Helper”, the Holy Spirit, to be with them and to indwell within them.  Some English translations also use the word Advocate, Comforter or Counselor.  The original Greek word for helper is paraclete: one who advocates for or intercedes on behalf of another; one who comforts, consoles, helps or comes alongside to give aid.

The Holy Spirit lives in all believers, this is God’s promise to us.  Knowing this, the Apostle Paul writes, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 38-39) Amen!
