January 7th 2024 – “There is no other way!”

2024-01-07 “There is no other way!” 11:00 AM

Dear Friends,

THIS SUNDAY the Rev. Linda Faith Chalk will be leading us in worship.

A Happy New Year to all, and welcome 2024!

OUR OLD TESTAMENT LESSON is Isaiah 60: 1-6, “The Future Glory of Israel.”  Here we witness our adoption as God graciously grafts the Gentiles into His fold.  Living Faith, A Statement of Christian Belief, the green booklet in the church pews, states:  “The church is Christ together with his people, called both to worship and to serve Him in all of life.  The church is one.  It is one family under God whose purpose it is to unite all people in Jesus Christ.  The church is holy.  It is set apart by God through the Holy Spirit to be a chosen people in the world.  The church is catholic.  It is universal, including all people of all time who affirm the Christian Faith.”

Our passage in Isaiah prophesies the arrival of a radiant light, drawing nations to its brilliance.  This light finds its fulfillment in Jesus, the Light of the world.  Just as foretold, people from all walks of life, Jew and Gentile alike, symbolized by the Magi (Matthew 2: 1-12), are drawn to Him.  Thanks be to God for this inexpressible gift, that we are made fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel (Ephesians 3: 6).
